What are your next steps if you suspect mold or black mold is in your home or business? At Bio-Clean Environmental Industries, we know that mold creates dangerous health risks, so it’s important to have it tested and removed. Our certified, expert team has the experience and specialized equipment needed to address both everyday mold, as well as toxic, black mold. We use industry best practices for complete mold remediation.
So, let’s talk next steps if you suspect mold or black mold…
Step One: Call Bio-Clean to Test for Mold
We will inspect your home or business to locate all areas and materials with mold damage.
Many molds look similar to toxic black mold. Bio-Clean can test and help identify the mold in your home. Black mold needs water to grow, so it is very common to have black mold if you have leaky pipes, roof leaks, floods, or condensation.
Despite being called black mold, it can actually be slimy and greenish-black. The real name for black mold is Stachybotrys Chartarum. It produces toxins called mycotoxins.
Do-it-yourself mold testing home kits are unreliable. But there are some mold warning signs you may have noticed. The look and feel of your rooms will give some indications:
- Musty odors
- Humid conditions
- Long-term dampness/damp surfaces
- Stained or discolored floors and walls
- Peeled paint and bubbling wallpaper
- Warped walls and bowed supports
Toxic black mold can lead to very serious and permanent health problems, and even death. The mycotoxins kill neurons in the brain and impair your mental ability.
Health symptoms that indicate you need immediate mold remediation include:
- Respiratory problems
- Itchy eyes
- Runny nose
- Dizziness and headaches
- Mental impairment
- Skin inflammation
- Damage to internal organs
- Irritation of the mucous membranes
- Immune system suppression
- Mood swings and irritability
This is why it is so important for you to contact us right away. If you don’t, the mold can release large amounts of spores and mycotoxins into the air for you to breathe. For your safety, we will contain and completely seal off the affected areas if possible. You may even be required to leave the location until we can get rid of the mold.
Step Two: Fix the Problem Causing the Mold & Clean Up
If mold is identified, don’t panic. We will locate and address the water problem causing the mold. Without water, mold can’t grow. Once fixed, we will remediate the mold infected area.
We use a negative pressure machine with HEPA filters to prevent the mold from spreading. Our team removes moldy materials that cannot be completely cleaned. Using anti-microbial solutions, we clean any non-porous, salvageable materials. We will also clean and encapsulate porous items to seal and repel or kill the mold. With industrial air scrubbers, our crew will remove spores from the environment. The area will be dried completely.
Step Three: Repair Any Damage
There will probably be some repairs needed, depending on the extent of the mold. We can send out a construction crew to take care of this job, too. Because we’re familiar with what materials were damaged and/or removed, we’ll know exactly what it takes to return your home or business to its pre-loss state.
Next steps if you suspect mold or black mold is taking immediate action. Contact Bio-Clean Environmental Industries for complete initial inspection of the area. We’ll explain what we find, what’s required to remedy the situation and answer any questions you might have. We serve Denver and the Front Range as well as Greeley, Fort Collins, and Cheyenne.
